My single, laser focus is on proofreading your work. That means I’m the final eyes that go over your manuscript. This includes
- correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors;
- ensuring that you’ve used consistent hyphenation and capitalization;
- correcting word usage and highlighting missing words;
- ensuring tense consistency; and
- pointing out over-repetition of words.
Currently, I don’t do copyediting. So if your story has continuity issues or plot inconsistencies, I won’t give you feedback on those. This is because your manuscript should have already gone through copyediting before coming to me.
My fresh eyes catch the sneaky errors that slip by you and your copyeditor.
In short, I put the polishing touches on your work so that it goes out into the world in its cleanest possible form. If you’re still not sure about why you need a proofreader in the first place, read this article; it’ll give you a clear understanding.
What to Expect
I proofread in MS Word using Track Changes. So at the end of the project you’ll receive two files:
- File 1 shows all of my tracked edits and comments. This way, you’ll see everything that I’ve done in your manuscript.
- File 2 shows only my comments with all edits accepted. This way, you’re not distracted by markups and can easily see the finished product.
Additionally, I’ll update you at least weekly for as long as the project lasts. If you reach out to me before my regular update, expect a reply to your emails within one business day.
